Summary
The Field Examiner is a key member of the collateral examination team and will participate in the execution of asset-based field examinations, perform basic analytic and auditing tasks, documenting and evaluating controls and implementing test work.
Our ideal candidate has a minimum of three years’ relevant experience, is able to independently run a field examinable from start to finish, and provide insightful, concise analysis on financial statement data with an understanding of the field examination process.
Job Responsibilities / Essential Job Functions
- Performs on-site engagements consisting of field examinations of prospect and existing asset-based borrower's collateral records and financial reports to determine / assess collateral values that secure loans to identify and highlights areas of collateral weakness, areas of potential exposure for the lender’s collateral, and to detect fraudulent activity.
- In addition to focusing on accounts receivable, inventory or other assets supporting the Borrowing Bases, the audits will include a review of books and records; analyses of accounts payable, bank statements, tax payments and filing status, insurance, sources, uses of cash and financial statement reviews that include other assets, other liabilities, and equity accounts.
- Effectively perform and document audit activities in accordance with professional standards and methodologies.
- Performs detail testing as defined by the field examination program to analyze and validate information.
- Evaluates accounting system controls and data integrity.
- Is able to efficiently use various software, client templates and data mining programs.
- Verifies that collateral is being reported and managed per the terms and conditions stipulated in the Loan Document.
- Documents findings/results of engagements; writes concisely and convincingly; presents confidently in writing and verbally to others, highlighting areas of risk and exposure, material variances, conclusions reached from testing results, and related recommendations for improvement, if necessary.
- Understand procedures, results and business impacts; documents and expresses such understanding in both written and verbal form.
- Provides exemplary customer service during and subsequent to the completion of engagements.
- Contributes to and promotes a positive environment to improve team effectiveness.

- Meets administrative reporting requirements.
Education, Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, audit or finance or equivalent experience in finance, public accounting, or banking required.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in field exam, including knowledge of borrowing base lending, Asset Based Lending (ABL) or other forms of secured finance.
- Financial books and records or financial auditing experience required; forensic accounting/ financial due diligence experience helpful.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Advanced proficiency with MS Excel and Word is required. Working knowledge of MS PowerPoint preferred.
