Job purpose

At Ameriqual packaging, Maintenance Technicians are responsible for completing any repair to a range of equipment that may be in need. Repairs are completed on all facilities items, machinery, equipment, building and other systems related to a major packaging manufacturing facility. 

 

Duties and responsibilities 

  • Electrical knowledge and experience 
  • Understand and adhere to all safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for all employees
  • Basic knowledge of production equipment including doboys/conveyors/gear boxes.
  • Troubleshooting systems to diagnose and repair problems
  • Knowledge of all shop tools including welders/mills/lathe/genie boom/forklifts etc.
  • Perform regular preventative maintenance on equipment throughout the plant
  • Communicate often and effectively with maintenance coordinator and peers across all departments, lead experience a plus
  • Complete all repairs and projects with a sense of pride and , with all work completed meeting  personal safety, food safety and quality standards, and on a timely manner
  • Work daily with maintenance  coordinator  on priority tasks, which can and do change on a day to day basis
  • Be able to work any shift and overtime when needed

Requirements

Qualifications 

  • Successful candidates will have a 2-year degree in a Maintenance field or two plus years of maintenance experience
  • Electrical experience recommended
  • Troubleshooting aptitude
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong mechanical abilities
  • Able to read and understand electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic drawings
  • Interact with other team members and communicate with production leaders
  • Follow directions and complete projects in a timely manner
  • Complete pms and workorders on a daily basis
  • Understanding and troubleshooting plc logic is a plus

 Physical requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is required to stand for extended periods of time as well as walk and climb stairs frequently. Bending and squatting may be required along with lifting up to 50 pounds.  The associate is frequently required to use arms to reach out and us hands to grasp objects and/or controls. Lifting, moving objects, and using specialized tools, equipment, and machines will be required. Most job duties include intricate repairs, which will require the Technician to work in, on, and around complex machinery and packaging systems.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Because of this, a certain level of dexterity will be required. All associates in the maintenance field will need to stay in tune with all aspects of their surroundings, as a safe work environment shall be maintained at all times.
