What will the Business Development Brokerage do?
Supports Business Development department’s goals for developing and maintaining business relationships with customers, clients, and carrier partners. Performs all functions according to established policies and procedures.
What is the Business Development Brokerage responsible for?

- Generate leads and business opportunities through existing business, cold calling, on-site introductions, and networking activities.
- Build relationships with new customers through extraordinary communication skills
- Communicate customers/clients to grow or support freight levels
- Support for all aspects of carrier management to include screening and load distribution.
- Work closely with the members of the brokerage team to input and manage brokerage information within the company systems.
- Provide accurate and thorough reporting for all business development and brokerage assignments.
- Provide support for all areas within the Business Development department as needed to include but not limited to, new business activities, brokerage, dealer relations, and/or customer integration.
- Handle incoming calls to the department and provide exceptional customer service. Manage calls to resolution or route to the appropriate personnel.
- Fluent communication with all departments in support of departmental activities.
- Provide freight to VTC trucks first. If not needed, broker out freight to meet customer requirements.
- Complete freight received from VP Business Development.
- Generate a contact base of carriers.
- Negotiate rates between customers and carriers on secondary freight
- Monitor and ensure that broker carriers maintain VTC quality and performance standards.
- Solid communication with RI office in processing of all new broker packages.
- Fluent communication with Terminal Managers.
What knowledge, skills and abilities are required for the Business Development Role role?
- Exceptional Customer Service skills
- Ability to handle multiple projects and changing priorities.
- Proficient knowledge of vehicle logistics industry including new car and after market segments
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of TMW a plus.
- Ability to maintaina high level of accuracy and completion in preparing and entering information.
- Possess ability to be a problem solver and be able to handle conflict resolution.
- Attention to detail and possessa high level of accuracy.
- Proven ability to detect concerns using analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to forecast future consequences and trends accurately.
- Ability to provide positive reinforcement and possess a positive attitude.
- Must be highly organized and possess the ability to prioritize.
- Comfortable working in a high-stress environment and ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Independently motivated
- Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain positive relationships with dispatch team and auto haulers.
- Strong communication skills (oral, written and listening) with motivational ability.
- Possess effective verbal and listening skills.
- Work occasionally requires a high level of mental effort and strain when performing essential duties. Must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with time constraints, interruptions and stressed dispatchers and drivers.
- Work may require more than 40 hours per week.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit/stand for most of his/her job duties. There is the need to frequently walk. There will be a moderate amount of standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting and reaching for some of his/her job duties.
Visual requirements include reading off a computer screen as well as printed materials. A high degree of dexterity is required due to frequent use of a telephone console.
Verbal and auditory requirements include the ability to communicate clearly over the telephone as well as in person.
There is a moderate level of grasping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling of objects of less than 50 lbs.
