Position Title:  Social Studies Long-Term Substitute Teacher


  


Qualifications: 



  • Must possess or be eligible for Connecticut State Department of Education certification that covers Social Studies for grades 7-12 (026).

  • Degree from an accredited college or university.


 Evaluator: Building Principal and/or designee


  


Terms of Employment:  Position to begin on or about April 6, 2026, and ends on June 16, 2026 (the last day of the 2025-26 school year.  Salary and benefits in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the association and the Board of Education.


 


Responsibilities:  The Social Studies Long Term Sub Teacher has the following responsibilities as listed below and other duties and responsibilities as shall be assigned by the Building Principal and/or designee:



  • Prepare instructional resources and assessments that support the delivery of the Avon Public School's curriculum, particularly the Social Studies discipline.

  • Develop and implement lesson plans, unit plans, and educational projects to ensure students’ academic development. 

  • Provide differentiated instructional strategies and assessment and/or modify the curriculum to meet the learning needs of students with structured learning plans (IEPs and 504s)

  • Provide support to all learners who require additional help or guidance with academic problems and concepts. 

  • Other responsibilities as defined by the building principal or designee.
