The Role

 

Assist in directing all aspects of NC courts, grounds, landscaping & FT/PT staff. Assist in the preparation of all outdoor and indoor courts and grounds for year-round public, programming, and tournament use.

  • Enforce proper operating and maintenance procedures for all court surfaces created by Manager, Courts and Grounds (Red Clay, HarTru, Rebound Ace, Plexicushion, & Decoturf)
  • Carry out specific and specialized maintenance to all tennis court types at USTA NC
  • Share knowledge of monthly and annual court maintenance with other FT and PT department staff for all court types and increase department knowledge/understanding of maintenance tasks. 
  • Assist in the direction and day-to-day supervision of department employees. 
  • Assist in training new & current, FT & PT department employees.
  • Bring staffing levels and issues to the attention of the Manager, Courts and Grounds, to maintain successful operations of the department.
  • Assist and support major projects being completed by the Manager, Courts and Grounds, through outside vendors, court construction, resurfacing, grounds renovations, and landscaping projects throughout the site.
  • Assist in oversight of care and maintenance of NC courts & grounds, landscaping equipment, and inventory. 
  • Notify the manager of equipment needs and inventory stock that is low and requires replenishment. 
  • Train departmental staff in job duties and safety precautions.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager, Courts and Grounds

Who You Are

 

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required
  • In-depth knowledge of Tennis court surfaces maintenance/Court building experience is required 
  • Experience working with different court surfaces such as HarTru, Asphalt, Rubberized or Red Clay tennis or sport courts.
  • 1-5+ years of experience managing staff of 10 or more.
  • Landscaping and grounds maintenance experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • This job will require that the person have the keen ability to assist and manage a large group of part-time staff and the ability to make critical decisions in real-time that affect the overall success of the National Campus year-round tennis programs.
  • Must be able to complete physically demanding tasks and work outside for long periods
  • This role is designated as “on-site” and requires the employee to be at the office site to complete the required tasks associated with the position.

The expected range for the annual base salary for this position is $55,000 - $62,500. This range does not include any additional pay or benefits for which a person may qualify. The actual base salary offered is determined by several variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, the years of relevant experience, their unique skills, and the location from which they will be performing the job.
