Title: Equipment and Facilities Technician II
Job Classification: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Department: Operations (Plus all Building Maintenance)
Reports To: Facilities and Maintenance Manager
General purpose of Job: Advanced support and maintenance of machinery, buildings, and grounds
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the setup, adjustment, maintenance, and repair of lettershop and bindery/finishing equipment
- Perform advanced diagnostics to determine root cause of machinery faults and identify repair solutions
- Identify parts needed for maintenance and repair activities to ensure continuous operation of equipment
- Inspect, measure, and research unavailable parts for fabrication or retrofit replacements
- Perform building maintenance tasks such as inspections, cleaning, troubleshooting, painting, and minor repairs on walls, doors / garage doors, exits, gates, office furniture, plumbing, and pneumatic systems
- Use various hand tools, power tools, specialty tools, dollies, hand trucks, man-lifts, industrial trucks, and other equipment as needed to perform job duties
- Document activity and material usage in a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
- Keep sidewalks and parking lot free of snow and ice
- Support housekeeping efforts in production and maintenance areas
- Follow all applicable company policies such as safety, security, employee conduct, etc
- Any other duties assigned by supervisor; subject to business needs
Performance Measurement: Performance feedback will take place both verbally and written on a day-to-day as needed basis, recognition in monthly employee recognition meetings, formal training on changes in SOP as needed with a formal review by the supervisor at least annually
Qualifications, Education and Experience:
- Advanced knowledge of industrial machinery and the mechanical operation of equipment. Requires understanding of maintenance, repair, and theory of operation for machinery serviced; as well as the ability to troubleshoot equipment
- Advanced understanding of electrical and mechanical schematics, and ability to interpret instruction manuals
- Advanced knowledge of the tools and test equipment used in the diagnosis and repair of equipment serviced
- High school diploma or equivalent and ability to read and write basic English, basic computer skills
- 3+ years electronic and mechanical troubleshooting experience on automated manufacturing equipment
- Previous experience with mail equipment, bindery, and/or other print-production equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to quickly learn machine operations
- Previous participation on a safety team and/or other safety training a plus
- Strong attention to detail, with lean manufacturing and/or quality control training preferred
- Must be able to work OT and/or rotate to other shifts as needed for training purposes
- Pre-employment physical, drug screen and background check required
Physical Demands:
Often standing or walking, may climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Often lift objects up to 40 lbs & sometimes up to 70 lbs. Use hands to finger, handle or feel. Reach with hands and arms. Vision requirements are close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, & ability to focus.
Work Environment:
Work near moving mechanical parts, fumes & airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and exposure to toxic chemicals. The noise level in our facilities is moderate to loud.
