Position Overview



Wiley University invites applications for a full-time faculty position supporting our undergraduate Spanish language programs. We seek a dedicated scholar-educator passionate about delivering high-quality instruction in Spanish language, literature, and culture while fostering students' communicative proficiency and intercultural competence. Candidates with expertise in various areas of Hispanic studies are encouraged to apply.

Primary Responsibilities



The successful candidate will:




  • Teach undergraduate courses in Spanish, which may include Elementary Spanish I & II, Intermediate Spanish I & II, Advanced Spanish Conversation and Composition, Spanish for the Professions, and upper-level courses in Hispanic literature, culture, or linguistics aligned with the candidate's area of specialization

  • Develop students' proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through communicative, student-centered approaches

  • Foster cultural awareness and appreciation of the diverse Spanish-speaking world

  • Provide academic mentoring and professional guidance to support student language development and intercultural competence

  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, assessment practices aligned with ACTFL proficiency guidelines, and continuous program improvement

  • Actively participate in departmental, college, and university service activities, including support for cultural programming and study abroad initiatives

  • Engage in ongoing scholarship and professional development to maintain disciplinary currency and pedagogical effectiveness

  • Report to the Department Chair or designated administrator and contribute to departmental goals
