Wiley University invites applications for a full-time faculty position supporting our undergraduate Spanish language programs. We seek a dedicated scholar-educator passionate about delivering high-quality instruction in Spanish language, literature, and culture while fostering students' communicative proficiency and intercultural competence. Primary Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Teach undergraduate courses in Spanish, which may include Elementary Spanish I & II, Intermediate Spanish I & II, Advanced Spanish Conversation and Composition, Spanish for the Professions, and upper-level courses in Hispanic literature, culture, or linguistics aligned with the candidate's area of specialization
- Develop students' proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through communicative, student-centered approaches
- Foster cultural awareness and appreciation of the diverse Spanish-speaking world
- Provide academic mentoring and professional guidance to support student language development and intercultural competence
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, assessment practices aligned with ACTFL proficiency guidelines, and continuous program improvement
- Actively participate in departmental, college, and university service activities, including support for cultural programming and study abroad initiatives
- Engage in ongoing scholarship and professional development to maintain disciplinary currency and pedagogical effectiveness
- Report to the Department Chair or designated administrator and contribute to departmental goals
