The Special Education Instructional Assistant is responsible for providing academic and/or community-based instruction to students with disabilities according to the prescribed directions of the Education Specialist or General Education Teacher; assisting in implementing and modeling behavior support, intervention techniques, and instructional support plans to meet individual student needs and reinforce learning activities; performing a variety of specialized learning techniques, communication strategies, and techniques pertaining to the instruction of students with disabilities; and assisting in record-keeping, clerical assistant duties, and data collection related to academics, behaviors, and IEP goals.
The candidate in this position will work with students up to 24 hours per week. Employees must reside within the state of California for the duration of their employment with CalPac. The position is scheduled to begin on August 26, 2026.

Required Documents
In addition to the required documents, background checks are conducted on all prospective new hires. State and federal fingerprint clearance (LiveScan) to work with students (Ed. Code 44237). No prospective employee can report to work without this clearance being received and the Human Resources notifying the immediate supervisor of this clearance.
Proof of a clear TB test dated within the last 60 days (Ed. Code 49406) must be provided upon employment and thereafter updated every four years.

Requirements / Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
One year of experience working with students with disabilities in an academic setting including implementing intervention techniques and strategies for shaping behaviors of students.
Associate’s degree or successful completion of the CBEST is required.
Bilingual English/Spanish is highly desirable.

Salary Info
Grade 8; initial step placement based on experience.
