To provide leadership and direction to the Shipping and Receiving department in areas of responsibility including inventory control, shipping, receiving, scheduling, quality, safety and environmental.
Responsibilities:
- Receives incoming freight and enters receiving information into the mainframe to maintain efficient inventory control.
- Determines work priorities, prepares work schedules and expedites workflow. Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with Home Office managers and supervisors to ensure coordination of special mailings, inventory management and quality assurance.
- Studies and standardizes procedures to assure the timely, accurate and efficient processing of all shipping and receiving functions.
- Works with department representatives to analyze shipping needs to determine the best method of shipment (packaging and transportation).
- Responsible for maintaining and updating all shipping records.
- Negotiates with shipping vendors and logistics companies to procure the best service and price possible.
- Performs all duties of the Shipping and Receiving Clerk as needed.
- Develops and maintains a well-trained staff.
- Maintains discipline, resolves problems, determines performance and recommends promotions, transfers or dismissals.
- Performs other duties as requested.

Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three years supervisory experience in shipping/receiving environment.
- Fluency reading, writing and speaking English.
- Sharp attention to details.
- Ability to efficiently work in a team and coordinate work with other departments.
- Aptitude to take orders and execute the same efficiently.
- High school degree, diploma or a GED equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated detail orientation, self-motivation skills and ability to multi-task.
- Strong basic math skills.
- Previous forklift experience.
- Exposure to a fast paced Lean manufacturing environment.

Job Relationships
- Reports directly to Corporate Logistics Manager.
- Shipping and receiving department personnel report to the Fall River Shipping/Receiving Manager and Interaction with Metalcraft personnel on all levels, freight carrier companies/drivers.
Authority
- Approval of daily employee work hours.
- Assign needed department overtime to personnel.
- Review, document, and process employee non-compliance; coach, counsel and mentor.
