Job Description

Teacher Aide

Title: Teacher Aide (Preschool)

Qualifications:

1.   High school diploma or equivalent

2.   Hold a Para-Professional Certificate in the State of Illinois

Reports to: Building Assistant Principal 

Job Goal: To work with the classroom teacher to provide support for students as assigned

Performance

Responsibilities:

1. Assist student(s) in the classroom during work.
2. Review classroom materials with student(s).
3. Provide supervision of  students during the school day and on field trips, assemblies, etc.
4. Assist the students with recitation, reading, and other curriculum tasks in support of the teacher's instruction.
5. Work with small groups of students to reinforce material introduced by the teacher.
6. Accompany the assigned student(s) when trips to the office, school nurse, or other areas of the school are necessary.
7. Work diligently to establish a nurturing and supportive relationship with student(s).
8. Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or building administration.
