Job Description
GFL Environmental is looking for a high-level Lead Diesel & CNG Technician (A-Tech) to join our team in Wilson, NC. As an A-Tech, you will serve as a technical expert and mentor, ensuring our fleet of Diesel and CNG vehicles is maintained to the highest safety and operational standards.

Essential Functions:

  • Diagnose and repair Diesel and CNG powered trucks, including engines, electrical, hydraulics, and fuel systems.

  • Lead inspections of brake systems, engine components, emission systems, and steering mechanisms.

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Level B and C mechanics.

  • Prioritize repairs to maximize fleet efficiency and timely completion of work orders.

  • Oversee mechanical write-ups and coordinate repair schedules.

  • Perform DOT and brake inspections on all vehicles.

  • Complete daily reports, work orders, and parts ordering.

  • Interpret intricate electrical and diagnostic schematics.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with all regulations.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of heavy-duty diesel/CNG maintenance experience.

  • Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and related state/federal regulations.

  • Valid Brake Safety Certificate and 609 A/C System Certification.

  • Experience using diagnostic software and computer-based work order systems.

  • Strong communication skills to interact with drivers, vendors, and management.

  • Class A or B CDL preferred (or willingness to obtain within 6 months).

  • ASE Certifications are highly preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 100 lbs.

  • Ability to stand, sit, kneel, crawl, and climb ladders for extended periods.

  • Concentrated mental and visual attention required for diagnostic work.

  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and loud environments.
