SUMMARY
The Bike Rental Technician is responsible for ensuring guests have a safe, enjoyable biking experience by properly fitting equipment, maintaining rental bikes, and providing clear guidance on usage and options. This role combines technical bike knowledge with strong customer service, requiring a fast-paced, safety-focused approach. A key part of every employee's job is to serve as a Targhee ambassador, engaging the guest at every opportunity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Including the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Safely fit bikes, helmets, and other gear to customers.
Handle complaints from customers.
Work as fast, yet as safely as possible during peak hours.
Understand rental forms and waivers of liability.
Must have knowledge of cross-country, downhill bikes, and other related equipment.
Inform guests of options/prices available for bike rentals.
Perform all bike tuning functions.
Maintain a positive and enthusiastic attitude.
Cross-train to sell in other retail outlets.
Perform daily audit.
Understand resort liability as it pertains to rentals.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Bike Rental Supervisor and Retail Manager.
Flexible working hours. Some job sharing may be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY:
- Protect the safety of self-workers, and Grand Targhee Resort guests.
Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.
Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures.
Operate equipment safely so that it will not lead to injury to yourself or others.
Drive in accordance with the law and Grand Targhee Resort policies
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities with staff.
WORK SCHEDULE
Due to the nature of the recreation industry, we are in operation seven days a week. This includes weekends and holidays and there is no guarantee of hours. Flexible working hours may be required based on the business levels.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous cash handling and guest service experience is required.

Knowledge of various types of bicycles and their components
Ability to diagnose and fix basic mechanical problems

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
