Job Description

 

BASIC FUNTION

Provide process analyzer support for the continuous manufacture of quality high density polyethylene (HDPE) and specialty fluids (HDA), consistent with high standards of quality, safety, housekeeping, and good employee relations. 

RESPONSIBILITIES
Include but not limited to:

Position General

  • In addition to the requirements of Level I (master all safe work procedures), to be successful in this role, the Analyzer Technician II must work independently on callouts, master troubleshooting, and be capable to perform installation of analyzer systems
  • Understand, support, and comply with all plant safety policies and procedures, including Lock-Out / Tag-Out (LOTO) and all electrical safety procedures, and industry codes/standards
  • Position is located in a chemical processing facility and requires overtime to meet plant needs, including alternative shifts as needed to meet facility needs
  • Position requires on-call duties, and the successful candidate must be able to respond 24/7, 100% of the time to plant emergencies on short notice, including nights, weekends, and holidays while on-call
  • Complete all assigned training by deadline
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by offering suggestions for long-term solutions to minimize costs, improve reliability, and improve loss control performance
  • Coordinate repairs of analyzer equipment and components with external vendors
  • Other duties as assigned

Technical

  • Calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, replace GC columns and ovens, and provide preventative maintenance on plant process analyzer equipment (may include, but is not limited to, gas chromatographs, continuous analyzers, sample systems, emissions monitoring and regulatory analyzers, pH and other water analyzers)
  • Keep thorough notes and records of work performed and update SAP work orders daily
  • Read and interpret equipment schematics, plans, loop sheets, spec sheets, blueprints, wiring diagrams, process piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Assist with design and implementation/construction of various small projects
  • Bend and route tubing

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • Requires a minimum of 8 years’ experience working with industrial process analyzers
  • Successful completion of Analyzer training classes
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft) required
  • Working knowledge with equipment such as gas chromatographs, sample systems, HRVOC systems, O2, pH, moisture, water analysis (ORP, Free Chlorine, Conductivity, Turbidity)
  • Candidate will be required to successfully complete a bench test as part of the hiring process
  • Candidates will be required to successfully complete extensive testing, drug/alcohol screen, physical requirement evaluation and an extended training period

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

  • Associate degree or Technical Diploma
  • Advanced training in field
  • 10+ years of experience working with industrial process analyzers

PHYSICAL CAPACITY REQUIREMENTS
The position requires:

  • Follow site safety requirements for the role and wear mandatory FRC and PPE (foot, head, ear, eye, hand, and fall protection) when inside plant environment or where directed by signage or procedure
  • Read and understand technical documents and procedures in English.
  • Specific vision abilities include near, far, and intermediate distances, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
  • Required to work at ground level, from ladders, and from heights greater than 250’ above grade on fixed platforms, mobile equipment platforms, and scaffolding
  • Ascend and descend stairs and stationary vertical ladders with and without a safety cage
  • Access confined spaces and pressure vessels through standard 24" manways
  • Must be capable of lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds
  • Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, crawling, walking, and climbing
  • Sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Work at computer for significant periods of time throughout the day
  • Required to reach overhead and at shoulder level with hands and arms
  • Must demonstrate fine and gross motor coordination including pinching, gripping, turning, and keyboarding of both hands
