POSITION OVERVIEW:
Holt Public Schools is seeking a passionate, student-centered Girls Freshman Volleyball Head Coach to support the
continued growth of our Volleyball program. The ideal candidate is an energetic educator-coach who values
relationships, skills development, team culture and educational-based athletics. This coach will work collaboratively with
the Varsity Head Coach and Volleyball staff to align philosophy, expectations and player development while creating a
positive and competitive experience for student-athletes.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Previous Volleyball coaching experience preferred (middle school, high school, AAU or youth level)
• Strong understanding of Volleyball fundamentals, teaching progression and practice organization
• Ability to teach, mentor and motivate student-athletes
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with players, families and staff
• Understanding of MHSAA rules, eligibility standards and school expectations
• Ability to model professionalism, sportsmanship, integrity and accountability
• Current CPR/First Aid certification and completion of state-required coaching modules (concussion, CAP training,
etc.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school sub-varsity coaching experience
• Experience with player development and off-season skill training
• Familiarity with HUDL or comparable film/video platforms
• Ability to collaborate within a program-wide structure and support long-term athlete growth
• Experience working with diverse student populations and creating inclusive team environments
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Freshman Head Coach will be responsible for the following areas:

1. Program Leadership & Vision
• Organize, direct, and coach the Freshman Volleyball team
• Build a positive team culture rooted in discipline, effort, accountability and respect
• Reinforce program standards and expectations established by the Varsity program
• Create an environment where athletes feel valued, challenged and supported
2. Player Development
• Teach Volleyball fundamentals, offensive and defensive concepts and team systems
• Design organized and purposeful practice plans focused on growth and development
• Promote leadership, confidence, teamwork and resilience in student-athletes
• Support athletes academically and encourage positive citizenship habits
3. Program Alignment
• Collaborate with the Varsity Head Coach and staff to maintain consistency in philosophy and terminology
• Prepare athletes for future advancement within the program
• Attend staff meetings and contribute positively to overall program planning
• Support feeder system and youth Volleyball relationships when applicable
4. Communication & Culture Building
• Maintain clear, respectful and professional communication with athletes, families and school staff
• Communicate schedules, expectations and team information in a timely manner
• Work collaboratively with administration and athletic department personnel
5. Compliance & Operations
• Ensure compliance with district policies, league rules and MHSAA regulations
• Supervise athletes appropriately at practices, contests, travel and team events
• Assist with equipment, uniforms, locker room expectations and facility care
• Maintain accurate attendance, rosters and other required documentation
6. Time Commitment
• Availability for after-school practices, evening games and occasional weekend events
• Participation in off-season meetings, planning sessions and development opportunities as requested
• Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is required
