 Job Summary:

The Principal Program Quality Engineer will ensure compliance throughout the organization on major programs from product design through manufacturing and product support.

The Principal Quality Engineer will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and reporting on all quality-related activities to assure fulfillment of ISO-9001/AS9100, along with contract requirements. This position requires a strong team player with experience creating integrated product teams (IPT) and a desire for maintaining a high commitment to both new and existing design, development, and production processes.

This highly customer-focused position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) to help with supervision and mentoring responsibilities for junior Quality Engineers. 

 

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Participate in Program Technical reviews and boards
  • Create first article inspection datasets for parts requiring first article inspection (FAI) within the product lifecycle management (PLM) system
  • Assess programs’ readiness against milestone reviews for programs throughout their acquisition lifecycle with respect to the Design and Planning Processes
  • Perform assessments and audits on processes and procedures to ensure compliance with specifications, plans, procedures, and industry standards, and customer quality requirement flow-downs. (i.e. AS9100, AS9145).
  • Participate in both Design and Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA & PFMEA) to ensure that product and process risk are identified and mitigated to allow efficient and effective manufacturing within the constraints of customer and company requirements.
  • Prepare basis of estimates (BOEs) requested by the Program Management team for new programs with an estimate of quality support hours required.
  • Preparing reports (i.e., notice of escape), corrective action statements, metrics, and other documents in support of assigned product lines. 
  • Extensive knowledge of root cause (8-D) analysis and problem-solving techniques
  • Review and disposition of non-conforming material (NCM) as a member of the integrated product teams (IPT) and Material Review Board (MRB).
  • Reviewing proposals, contracts, specifications, and other technical data to determine EAC staffing and quality requirements; implementing these requirements into processes.
  • Notify Management of potential quality or regulatory issues that may affect product quality or regulatory compliance.
  • Approve documents for activities as authorized and described by Elbit policies, procedures, standards, and job descriptions.
  • Provide technical assessment and approval for process and Engineering changes.
  • Provide input into investigations involving process-related failures.
  • Collaborate with departments to ensure new product design verification and validation activities are executed efficiently and effectively.

 

Education, Experience & License or Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Engineering preferred) and 8 years’ related experience in Quality and/or Engineering at a systems level. 
  • Experience in Product Design Lifecycle from concept to production
  • Experienced in RCCA and Continuous Improvement methodologies

 

Desired Skills:

  • Proficient in Advanced Product Quality Planning (AS9145)
  • Familiar with Engineering Design Attributes
  • Experience with Key Characteristics Management
  • Experience in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T)
