Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Community Engagement Scientist supports community outreach and education about clinical trial opportunities at the Ho‘ōla Early-Phase Clinical Research Center (EPCRC).


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

  • Help address misconceptions and cultural concerns about clinical trial participation within the community
  • Serve as trusted liaisons who can explain trial concepts in culturally appropriate ways
  • Assist with identification of community partners and venues for outreach events
  • Provide feedback to our research team on community perspectives and barriers to participation
  • Complies with all legal requirements and company policies.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education/Training

  • High School Diploma or equivalent


Experience

  •  One of the following:
    • Cancer patient or survivor
    • Family member or caregiver of a cancer patient or survivor
    • Healthcare worker
    • Community member interested in advocating for cancer patients and survivors
    • Community member interested in learning about and supporting cancer research


Skills Knowledge

  • Ability to interact positively with study subjects and their families/associates, other health care and research professionals, and sponsor representatives.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple ongoing/concurrent projects and tasks.
  • Works autonomously with minimal supervision, while also understanding the boundaries of the role, responsibilities, and experience. Seeks guidance and clarification from appropriate protocol-involved personnel when necessary.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills, attention to detail and desire to learn.
  • Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills, and interacts with supervisors, co-workers, and others respectfully and professionally at all times.

  • Pay rate: Hyperbaric Clinician Trainee - $18/hr. Hyperbaric Clinician range: $30/hr. to $36/hr.
