Substitute Custodian

JOB SUMMARY

The substitute custodial employee is responsible for maintaining assigned areas. Employees will work closely with their immediate supervisor to provide a safe and clean environment for students, teachers and other staff. Custodial employees may be assigned to special projects related to the needs of the district.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

 High School diploma or equivalent

 Familiar with basic custodial equipment

 Willing to work first and / or second shift

 Valid Michigan driver’s license

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

 Keeps assigned interior areas neat, clean, in attractive condition according to district standards

 Operates equipment, i.e. floor scrubbers/polishers, carpet cleaning equipment

 Keeps assigned exterior areas and premises including sidewalks safe, neat and clean at all times as appropriate

to the assignment

 Sets up, arranges and moves furniture and equipment for meetings and other events within and between facilities

as required.

 Responsible for opening, closing, and overall building security as assigned.

 Cleans rooms, toilet facilities, corridors, walls, floors, windows and other areas in accordance with district

standards.

 Documents daily work activities on forms as established for the program/assignment.

 Reports supply and repair needs to building to supervisor

 Performs minor repairs, preventive maintenance and maintains equipment/building/grounds.

 Must be physically able to bend, stoop, lift, squat, carry, stand, climb, push/pull and use other

motor skills necessary to perform the essential duties as needed

 Follows daily work schedules and communicates work that was not completed to supervisor

COMPENSATION: $15.08 per hour with generous pay increases. Contracted through GECs
