ABOUT THE ROLE



The Lead Client Strategist serves as the strategic partner for our flagship client, American Express, embedding deeply in the client’s brand and culture to ensure all work is insight-driven, strategically aligned, and culturally relevant. This role elevates day-to-day execution into cohesive solutions that build trust and strengthen long-term partnerships.



While primarily focused on Amex, the strategist may occasionally support other clients. Success comes from deep brand knowledge, strong relationships, and a mindset of asking “why” at every turn.

RESPONSIBILITIES



Client Immersion, Cultural Alignment, and Strategic Leadership




  • Develop and maintain deep fluency in the client’s brand, culture, language, products, and business priorities.

  • Serve as the primary strategic advisor and cultural bridge between the client and internal agency teams.



Strategic Thinking & Advisory Ownership




  • Lead the strategic framing of work across all assignments, from large-scale initiatives to day-to-day requests.

  • Consistently challenge assumptions and ask “why” to uncover insights, clarify intent, and elevate deliverables.

  • Develop and own strategic frameworks, points of view, recommendations, and narratives that guide client and internal decision-making.

  • Ensure all work connects tactical execution to broad brand, marketing, and business objectives.



Marketing, Brand, and Product Strategy Integration




  • Partner with client stakeholders to understand marketing and product priorities across business lines.

  • Identify and articulate connections between product initiatives, marketing campaigns, and customer experience.

  • Translate client objectives into a clear strategic direction for creative, digital, and production teams.

  • Bring forward relevant market trends, competitive insights, and thought leadership to inform client strategy.



Internal Enablement & Influence




  • Partner closely with Account Management and cross-functional teams to elevate the strategic lens applied to all work.

  • Provide strategic context, brand guidance, and rationale to internal teams to ensure work resonates with the client.

  • Support and strengthen internal and client-facing presentations through clear strategic storytelling.

  • Document and share insights and learnings internally to build institutional knowledge and strategic consistency.



QUALIFICATIONS




  • 6-10 years of progressively responsible experience in strategy, marketing (agency or in-house), brand planning, account strategy/planning, or related disciplines.

  • Demonstrated success serving as a senior strategic advisor to complex or high-visibility client relationships.

  • Experience supporting enterprise or matrixed client organizations; financial services or similarly complex industries preferred but not required.

  • Strong generalist strategist background with comfort flexing across marketing, product, and communications.

  • May be required to complete and pass Public Trust Security Clearance.

This position operates in an office setting and may have access to the production floor.




  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
