Job Summary:
The Mammography Technologist operates a mammography unit to produce images of the breasts for diagnostic purposes under the direction of a physician. Specifically, conducts radiology exams and documents clinically appropriate results for interpretive physicians and records.
Duties/Responsibilities:

(95%) Patient Care
- Demonstrates the company’s values in daily activities
- Uses proper radiation protection and precautions, prepares, and operates mammography equipment
- Demonstrates use of proper positioning to produce quality mammography studies
- Operates equipment safely and competently, while obtaining high-quality images.
- Maintains requires CE’s for both ARRT and MQSA compliance.
- Participates in activities/tasks to maintain compliance and accreditation with the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) and the American College of Radiology (ACR)
- Participates in annual Inspections and documentation requires by MQSA or ACR
- Demonstrates ability to collect appropriate clinical history and correlate findings with the procedure being performed
- Ensures that comparison studies are obtained prior to sending the study to a radiologist for interpretation
- Evaluates images for technical quality, collate processed images and sequence of exposure and labels appropriately
- Applies the profession’s code of ethics in all aspects of practice
- Maintains knowledge of, observes, and enforces the safety measures in the Environment of Care
- Maintains accurate patient records; including documentation of communication method, date and to whom findings were communicated
(5%) Completes other tasks and projects as assigned
Shift Details: Coverage at various sites for vacations, evenings, Saturdays
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of and adherence to company policies and protocols
- Knowledge of and adherence to HIPAA and safety guidelines
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
- Knowledge of current technical skills and procedural understanding to perform a full range of scanning procedures
- Knowledge of and adherence to ALARA principles
- Knowledge of current Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS)
- Knowledge of basic level computer skills
- Skill in organizing and prioritizing work and following assignments through to completion
- Skill in written and verbal communication
- Ability to operate and adjust scanning and ancillary equipment
- Ability to take initiative to improve processes, think strategically, and identify trends
- Ability to provide open, honest feedback to improve decision-making
- Ability to maintain and build constructive relationships that produce results
- Ability to work independently, as a team, and in a fast-paced environment and meet established deadlines

Education and Experience:
- Graduate of 24-month AMA-approve School of Radiology Technology
- 12 months of previous experience in diagnostic radiology
- ARRT certification in Radiology and Mammography Certification
- Applicable State Licensure, where applicable
- BLS certification preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Basic lifting as required, not to exceed 50 pounds
- Must be able to stand, stoop and lift and walk without restrictions.
