Job Description

Position: Custodian [1433]

Program: Amarillo, Texas – Maintenance

Salary: $15.66/hr.

Shift available: Full-time

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Staff will maintain ethical and professional communications at all times using respectful Trauma-Informed Care language
  • Performs moderately complex custodial work at Bivins Pointe and other specific assigned areas
  • Work involves cleaning and caring for the building and premises, maintaining custodial equipment, requesting supplies and participating in performing minor equipment repairs and installation
  • Works under limited supervision with some latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment
  • Knowledge and experience in all department custodial operations
  • Coordinates with the Support Services Director in the cleaning and custodial maintenance of other areas and buildings when the need arises
  • Requisitions supplies as needed, coordinates with available staff to cover custodial work caused by staff shortage
  • Attends training as required by Human Resource Development and/or custodial manager
  • Knowledge and experience in all department custodial operations

Required qualifications to be successful in the job:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One semester (12 credit hours) of accredited college work; or minimum of eighth grade reading comprehension level as evidenced by score on the Adult Basic Learning Examination (ABLE) test
  • One (1) year of janitorial or general cleaning work in an industrial environment
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty in a satisfactory manner

  • Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and be insurable under agency vehicle policy
  • Must be 18 years or age or older
