Job Description

SUMMARY 

Washes dishes and supports the kitchen staff by performing the following duties:

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  1. Follows the Glenmeadow Pledge.  Specifically you are expected to:
    • Appropriately greet all customers & be courteous, kind and thoughtful to all the people that you come in contact with during the course of your work.

  1. Dish washing.  Specifically you are expected to:
    • Wash dishes using automatic dishwasher.
    • Scrub pots and pans and other dishes as necessary by hand.
    • Clean work area, tables, cabinets, ovens and other appliances.
    • Sweep and mop floors, empty trash and clean trash barrels.

 

  1. Cleaning. Specifically you are expected to:
    • Break down boxes.
    • Lift floor mats and sweep and mop floors.
    • Empty trash.
    • Clean trash barrels.
    • Complete daily and weekly cleaning schedules.

 

  1. Communication. Specifically you are expected to:
    • Maintain communication between shifts.
    • Follow posted schedules and board notes.

 

  1. Safety: Specifically you are expected to:
    • Complete daily and weekly cleaning schedules.
    • Comply with safety procedures and state sanitation standards.
    • Be concerned with safety.   Follow safety protocol to reduce the chance of self injury.  
    • Follow safety regulations, infection control, and universal precaution procedures at all times.

 

  1. Consistent/Reliable.  Specifically you are expected to:
    • Establish a track record of quality so that the supervisor and customers have a high degree of confidence that the assignment will be completed thoroughly.
    • Follow through with special assignments.
    • Complete your assigned workload.  

 

  1. Attendance.  Specifically you are expected to:
    • Come to work on time.   
    • Follow the appropriate call out procedure if unable to be at work.
    • Use accrued time appropriately without excessive call-outs.
    • Attend 10 in-services annually.
    • Attend monthly team meetings.
    • Be flexible in filling in for others or picking up extra work.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to residents or other employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.

Ability to relate well to all geriatric residents.

Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors and the general public.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  The employee frequently is required to twist; lift, raise arms over shoulders, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear.   The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to extreme heat.  The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles.  The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
