Electronics Hardware Engineer/Designer– New Product Development (Saskatoon)

Position Summary:

Vecima is seeking an Electronics Engineer/ Designer to contribute to the development of next-generation telecommunication and networking products. The successful candidate will join an industry-leading team of technology leaders with a passion for design that balances quality and business value.  The candidate will contribute to the development of next-generation products used by some of the world's largest cable system operators.

The Electronics Hardware Engineer/ Designer will collaborate with other skilled R&D designers on new product development activity, including power supply, digital, and RF design. Tasks include design, simulation, prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting. Attention to detail, drive, initiative, productivity, teamwork, and quality work are necessary to be successful within Vecima’s R&D culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development and performance analysis of hardware architectures focused in the areas of power, digital, analog, and RF
  • Design and development of analog, digital, and mixed-signal electronic circuits for new and existing products.
  • Schematic entry and multi-layer circuit board design and layout (Altium, PADS)
  • Circuit simulation
  • Prototyping, experimental verification and debugging of circuits
  • Test plan creation, estimation, and review
  • Component selection and evaluation, performance analysis, trade-off studies, etc.
  • Design and test for regulatory and standards compliance (Safety, EMI, ESD)

Qualifications:

  • Electrical/ Electronics Engineering degree or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in electronics design or product development
  • Solid working knowledge of digital, power supply circuits, RF, and/or system design
  • Strong understanding of commonly used test equipment for power, digital, and analog/ RF testing, including but not limited to spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in the following areas is considered an asset:
    • RF and/or power circuit simulation tools
    • Soldering (Pb-free, surface mount)
    • Schematic entry and PCB design/layout
    • Linux CLI and scripting languages
    • Regulatory certification (CSA, FCC, etc.)

 

This incumbent will work from our Saskatoon, SK office.
