JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Graduate Assistant for Agriculture
DEPARTMENT: Agriculture
REPORTS TO: Agriculture Department Faculty and Staff
PURPOSE OF POSITION: The purpose of this position is to assist the Agriculture Department in the management of the herd and livestock operations and the crop and field operations of the Dordt Agriculture Stewardship Center, in collaboration with the Dordt Agriculture faculty, staff, and students. This role seeks to encourage a passion for stewardship in all areas of agriculture, engaging with local leaders in the industry and guiding students in hands-on learning opportunities, with a commitment to excellence, Christ-centered leadership, and bringing glory to God.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in leading and managing herd and livestock planning and field and crop planning associated with the agriculture stewardship center in collaboration with the agriculture department, research partnerships, regional feeders and producers, along with equipment and service providers.
Assist in the education of agriculture students as a co-instructor or teaching assistant as needs arise.
Actively participate in co-curricular student organizations, such as the Ag Club and local chapters of professional agriculture organizations.
Assist in the recruitment of students into the agriculture program.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
A clear understanding and commitment to the Reformed perspective and mission of Dordt University and ability to clearly articulate and communicate the mission effectively.
Ability to express an active Christian commitment, which shall include identification with a local organized church that holds to beliefs that are consistent with the mission of the university.

A bachelor’s degree is required as well as enrollment in a master’s degree program through Dordt University, including MBA, MAT or M.Ed., for the duration of employment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working effectively with students and staff.
Organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
Ability to lead and collaborate effectively demonstrating initiative, professionalism, and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
