Tradesman 1- Pipe layer (Craftworker 1)

Location: 22211 U.S. Highway 19 North, Clearwater, FL 33765

Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

 

Are you looking for a career where your work directly contributes to public safety and environmental protection? Pinellas County Stormwater Operations is hiring a Tradesman 1- Pipe Layer (Craftworker 1)  to help maintain and improve the infrastructure that protects our neighborhoods from flooding and erosion.

 

In this role, you will use your skills to install and maintain stormwater pipes and structures, operate specialized equipment, and ensure compliance with environmental standards. You’ll work outdoors, solve real-world problems, and be part of a team that takes pride in protecting the community.

What Would You Do?

  • Assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings and fixtures of water and drainage systems.

  • Perform structure repairs and site clearing to maintain system access.
  • Operate excavation and pipe-laying equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Loads and secures equipment/ supplies on a trailer and transports to the job site.
  • Remove sediment and invasive vegetation from stormwater systems.

     

What Do You Need To Have?

  • Three (3) years of skilled craft or trade experience in operations.
  • Completion of a two-year skilled trades vocational or technical school program with a diploma or certification and one (1) year of experience in operations.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • Must obtain a Temporary Traffic Control (TTC formerly MOT) certification within six (6) months of hire.
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid Florida Commercial Driver’s License Class "B" license at time of hire with eligibility based upon evaluation of a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) driving report.
  • An understanding and consistent practice of safety expectations, safe equipment, vehicle operation and worksite setup.
  • Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
  • Other highly desirable knowledge, skills, abilities, and credentials relevant to a position.

 

Highly Desirable

  • Florida Commercial Driver’s License A preferred.
  • MOT certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of maintenance of traffic operations and roadway hazard mitigation for flagging traffic.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to understand and implement policies and procedures ability to effectively communicate with the team and supervisors.
  • Ability to take both written and verbal communication and direction and successfully complete an assigned task.
