CNC Oilfield Services is a leading oil and gas service company, providing reliable transportation solutions to the industry. We are seeking a hardworking and motivated Diesel Mechanic Helper to join our Shop.
Position Summary:
The Diesel Mechanic Helper supports the maintenance and repair of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment, including heavy trucks, trailers, and oilfield service equipment. Under direct supervision, this position performs basic preventative maintenance, assists with mechanical repairs, and ensures a clean, safe, and organized shop environment. The Diesel Mechanic Helper plays a key role in minimizing downtime and supporting field operations in a fast-paced oil and gas service environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist lead mechanics with the inspection, diagnosis, and repair of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, brake systems, and electrical components.
- Perform preventative maintenance (PM) tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, fluid checks, and tire rotations.
- Assist with repairs of tandem vacuum trucks, trailer dumps, flatbeds, lowboys, and forklifts.
- Help maintain service logs and record labor, parts, and equipment used for repairs.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are cleaned and returned to proper locations after use.
- Keep work areas safe, clean, and organized according to shop standards.
- Operate light equipment as needed to support repair work (air compressor, jacks, creepers, etc.).
- Load, unload, and transport parts or tools as directed.
- Conduct safety checks and ensure PPE is used at all times.
- Maintain proper use and inventory of hand tools and shared shop equipment.
Requirements
Skills & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Must be physically fit and able to regularly lift up to 150 lbs.
- Completion of a diesel repair or technician program (preferred).
- Familiarity with diesel engine and hydraulic system components.
- Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
- Basic knowledge of tire mounting, brake repair, and PM services.
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions precisely.
- Team-oriented with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, and climbing.
- Regular lifting and carrying of parts and tools up to 150 pounds.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and from elevated heights.
- Tolerance to work in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, dust).
- Use of PPE required at all times (FRCs, gloves, hard hat, safety glasses, etc.).
Work Environment:
- Combination of indoor shop and outdoor field environments.
- Exposure to loud noises, heavy machinery, grease, diesel fumes, and moving parts.
- Must be available to work a rotating schedule including nights, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
