POSITION SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for operation, installation, diagnosis, troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, and overall proper function of all types of mechanical equipment, including but not limited to the following pumps, steam turbines, compressors, gear boxes, cooling fans, couplings, seals, and all rotating equipment.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Maintain and conduct preventive maintenance on rotating and process equipment

·       Pull and install equipment for repair

·       Perform alignment on equipment

·       Monitor vibration analysis

·       Identify proper oils used in facility equipment

·       Identify proper gasket materials

·       Manage maintenance records

·       Drive a tractor

·       Obtain certification for operating forklifts, small lifts, crane (Galena Park Marine Terminal (GPMT) is a DOT and USCG regulated facility

·       Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: 

·       High school diploma or GED equivalent

·       Valid Texas driver’s license

·       Able to obtain a TWIC card

·       Access equipment on barges and ships, some heavy lifting and tugging on ropes, hoses & loading arms, operating valves

·       Able to work 9-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays, subject to callouts and overtime as directed by business needs

·       Basic computer skills in Microsoft Windows applications

·       Able to work in a self-managed work team environment and take direction from team

·       Must be a self-starter and flexible; able to plan and manage multiple tasks

·       Able to work with a multi-national customer base

·       Regular and reliable attendance is required

 

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

·       Previous marine LPG/Chemical terminal experience with above-mentioned equipment 

·       College courses in process technology, process controls and instrumentation 

·       Previous Mechanical/I&E experience a plus

·       Has a valid TWIC card

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

·       Full exposure to extreme weather changes and humidity/moisture relative to atmospheric condition variations Includes exposure to extreme summer and winter temperatures, as well as rain, sleet, and snow 

·       Work is generally performed in an industrial environment (indoors or outdoors) with various hazards and noise exposure. 

·       Work may involve climbing at heights at or above six feet

·       Utilize multi-limb coordination and flexibility combined with control precision to perform fine motor skills including finger manipulation, grasping, feeling, arm-hand steadiness, to push, pull or lift objects

·       Will work in changing climate conditions and a plant environment.

·       Travel may be required for assignments, meetings, and training. 

·       Will work in close quarters: i.e., work while kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing; ability to lift, push/pull 50 pounds.
