Workday HCM Solution Architect
Job Summary
The Workday HCM Solution Architect serves as the strategic and technical leader responsible for designing, governing, and delivering Workday HCM solutions for global clients. Operating within a consulting environment, this role partners with client executives, project leaders, and cross‑functional teams to define end‑to‑end Workday architecture that meets complex business needs and drives digital transformation. The architect provides deep expertise across Workday HCM modules, oversees multi‑country solution design, ensures adherence to best practices, and enables clients to maximize the value of Workday as their enterprise HR platform.
Key Responsibilities
1. Solution Architecture & Design
Define the overall Workday HCM architecture, ensuring alignment with client business goals and global HR operating models.
Lead solution design across Core HCM, Compensation, Talent, Recruiting, Absence, Time Tracking, Payroll, and/or Benefits.
Develop scalable, future‑ready architectures including data structures, security models, tenant strategy, reporting frameworks, and integrations.
Review functional designs, configuration and technical specifications produced by project consulting teams.
2. Client Advisory & Stakeholder Leadership
Serve as the primary Workday HCM advisor to client business and technology leaders.
Facilitate workshops to translate business requirements into Workday capabilities, guiding clients through solution trade‑offs and best practices.
Build trusted, long‑term client relationships and influence decision‑making at senior levels.
3. Project & Delivery Leadership
Lead or oversee Workday solution workstreams across global implementations, transformations, and optimization engagements.
Partner with cross‑functional project teams to ensure cohesive, aligned, and high‑quality end‑to‑end delivery.
Ensure deliverables meet quality standards and align with the global consulting firm’s methodologies and governance frameworks.
4. Integration, Security & Reporting Oversight
Oversee complex Workday integrations with third‑party HR, payroll, benefits, and identity providers.
Provide expert guidance on Workday Studio, Core Connectors, EIB, and Payroll Integration techniques.
Establish the Workday security model, ensuring appropriate role‑based access and data privacy controls.
Guide the creation of custom reports, dashboards, and analytics to support client HR insights.
5. Workday Roadmap, Innovation & Thought Leadership
Develop Workday roadmaps to help clients adopt new modules, optimize processes, and leverage emerging Workday capabilities.
Conduct impact assessments for semiannual Workday releases and lead deployment strategies.
Contribute to the firm’s Workday practice through knowledge sharing, methodology development, and internal capability building.
Mentor and develop Workday consultants, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, HR Management, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field.
Workday Certifications (e.g., Core HCM, Compensation, Talent, Integrations).
8+ years of hands‑on Workday HCM experience across multiple modules.
Proven experience leading large‑scale Workday implementations in a consulting environment.
Strong architectural understanding of Workday data, security, integrations, and reporting.
Excellent facilitation, communication, and client‑facing consulting skills.
Ability to work across multiple countries, cultures, and stakeholder groups.
