JOB TITLE: Carpenter Shop Assistant
LOCATION: St. Paul
PAY RATE: $16.50 per hour
HOURS: 30-40 hours

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a reliable and motivated student worker to work alongside UST carpenters. This is a good opportunity for students interested in carpentry, construction management, or facilities maintenance. Gain hands on experience working in carpentry while maintaining all UST buildings and residences.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Conduct carpentry checklist inspections in residence halls, apartments, and houses
• Repair furniture in student residences
• Perform various carpentry work as requested
• Maintain a safe working environment by displaying proper use of all tools and/or repair equipment and proper lifting techniques

TRANSFERABLE SKILLS:

• Critical thinking
• Problem solving
• Attention to detail
• Customer service
• Basic carpentry and hand tool knowledge

• Basic understanding of hand tools is a plus but not required
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Ability to work independently when required
• Ability to work at least 30 hours weekly
• Ability to lift 50 lbs

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
