Position Summary
Members will serve on the Darrington Ranger District developed recreation crew, a field-based position that maintains roadside recreation sites. This District has abundant mountain scenery and wild rivers, providing recreational access for more than 4 million people who live within the Puget Sound Area. This crew provides public services and carries out a variety of projects to maintain, clean & repair developed/dispersed sites & facilities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains, cleans & makes repairs to developed/dispersed sites & facilities such as toilets, garbage, vegetation removal, road closure gates, water systems, picnic tables, fire rings, barriers, dumpsters and other miscellaneous structures
- Installs/maintains information boards, travel signs, regulatory signs and other signs associated with recreation sites and safety
- Provides detailed information about recreation opportunities to Forest visitors and explains the Forest Service rules and regulations
- Anticipated work schedule Tuesday - Saturday
Marginal Duties
- Collects fee tubes and counts money collected
- Naturalize recreation sites to control use and prevent resource damage
- Coordinates enforcement activities with local Forest Service law enforcement personnel
Required Qualifications
It is required that members have a great attitude, are interested in learning, and are a team player! A driver's license is also required. Please know that government housing is available in Verlot and that bunkhouses either have single or shared rooms available with common living areas. It’s rustic accommodation with no cell or internet service and the closest community with those amenities/groceries/fuel is 11-miles away in Granite Falls, so a personal vehicle is required.
This SCA Position is authorized under the Public Land Corps Authority. All participants must be between the ages of 16 and 30, inclusive, or veterans age 35 or younger. Participants must also be a citizen or national of the United States or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States. Hours served can be applied toward the Public Land Corps (PLC) hiring authority.

Compensation
- Living allowance = $750/week
- All Weather Service Clothing
- Member Roundtrip Travel Allowance = $1,300
