Role Overview
C10 Labs is seeking Founders in Residence (FIRs) to build the next generation of AI-driven healthtech, biotech, and deeptech companies in Cambridge/Boston.
As a Founder in Residence, you will work directly with the C10 Labs team to:
- Identify and validate high-impact problems in healthcare, biology, and scientific systems
- Develop and test new venture concepts leveraging AI, data, and emerging technologies
- Rapidly prototype solutions with access to technical, clinical, and research partners
- Launch and scale a new company from zero to venture-backed
This is a build-track role designed for individuals who want to found a company but benefit from the infrastructure, capital, and ecosystem of a venture studio at day zero.
What You’ll Do
- Source and validate opportunities across healthtech, biotech, and deeptech
- Work closely with clinicians, researchers, and industry partners to define real-world problems
- Build and iterate on MVPs using AI/ML, data platforms, and scientific tooling
- Lead early go-to-market strategy and customer discovery
- Recruit and build an initial team
- Position the company for seed/Series A financing
What you'll do:
- Identify high-impact opportunities where AI can transform major industries
- Conduct market research, customer discovery, and technical validation
- Build prototypes, proof-of-concepts, or early product architectures
- Collaborate with C10 Labs’ engineering, product, and venture teams
- Engage with mentors, researchers, and industry partners in the C10 Labs ecosystem
- Develop fundraising narratives and investor materials
- Recruit early team members or co-founders
- Launch and lead the new company as CEO or co-founder following venture formation
What We’re Looking For:
Technical builder or operator with a background in AI, computer science, bioengineering, or related fields
Experience in healthcare, biotech, life sciences, or deeptech environments (startup, lab, or industry)
Founder mindset — you’ve built, scaled, or operated in early-stage companies
Strong ability to navigate ambiguity and zero-to-one environments
Deep curiosity about applying AI to real-world scientific and healthcare challenges
Bonus: Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in a relevant technical or scientific field
Additional qualities we value:
Strong product intuition and problem discovery skills
- Technical fluency in AI, machine learning, or data-driven systems
- Ability to operate in highly ambiguous early-stage environments
- Experience building teams or leading complex initiatives
- Ability to translate emerging technology into scalable businesses
