Job Description

This is a full time position located at the 3 Mil office of MLIH in Logan, WV.



POSITION PURPOSE:

 

          Nursing services consisting of nursing care which can be provided safely in the recipient’s home, day program, etc.  The service must be provided within the scope and standards of the WV Nurse Practice Act.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

  1. Routine monitoring of specific medical symptoms such as seizures, bowel habits, blood pressure, diet and exercise.
  2. Consult with the registered nurse to seek guidance in delivery of nursing care.
  3. Monitor and review MARS, medication storage, and documentation.
  4. Follow physician orders when administering medication.
  5. Direct nursing care including medication/treatment administration.
  6. Function as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team for each consumer.
  7. Participate in relevant continuing competence activities to maintain current knowledge and skill levels in practical nursing as required by 10 CSR 6, Continuing Competence.
  8. Facilitate procurement of and monitoring of medical equipment.
  9. Ensure medical appointments have been kept and information communicated to all others per agency policy.
  10. Enter data electronically into clinical recordkeeping and billing systems and record all events involving consumers and patients of LMAMH on a daily basis.
  11. Perform testing, including nasal swabs and nasopharyngeal swabs, as needed.
  12. Work COVID-19 testing sites, as needed.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and registered with the State Board of Examiners for Licensed Practical Nurses.  CPR and First Aid are renewed every two years.
