Job Summary:
The Senior Operations Manager is a senior operations leader responsible for the execution, coordination, and performance of Division 27 construction activities across fiber and data center environments. This role oversees Field execution team members, ensuring safe, efficient, and schedule-aligned delivery of complex low-voltage scopes.
This individual serves as the bridge between Project Management and Field Execution, owning short-interval planning, manpower and equipment coordination, task accuracy, and day-to-day operational excellence. The Senior Operations Manager ensures that bulk fiber, splicing, testing, and data center infrastructure work is executed to plan, on time, and to customer standards.
Primary Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership & Field Execution
Lead and manage Field Execution Team across multiple projects, buildings, or campuses.
Oversee execution of Division 27 scopes, including:
Bulk fiber installation (ISP / OSP / campus / in-building)
Mass fusion splicing and enclosure build-out
Fiber testing (OLTS, OTDR, acceptance packages)
Data center infrastructure: overhead conveyance, structured cabling, rack placement, patching, and cross-connects
Ensure work is executed in accordance with approved designs, schedules, customer standards, and safety requirements.
Schedule, Manpower & Resource Coordination
Coordinate daily and weekly schedules for:
W-2 technicians
Subcontractor crews
Construction Managers and foremen
Validate that scheduled tasks are accurate, achievable, and properly sequenced.
Align manpower plans with project milestones, access windows, and production targets.
Coordinate equipment, tooling, test gear, and material availability onsite to prevent downtime or schedule impact.
Project & PMO Integration
Partner closely with Project Managers and Program Managers to:
Translate schedules into executable field plans
Provide real-time production feedback and forecasting
Identify and escalate risks, constraints, or scope conflicts early
Participate in project kickoff meetings, look-aheads, and coordination calls with PMO and customers.
Ensure field progress aligns with billing milestones and reported percent complete.
Quality, Productivity & Accountability
Enforce quality standards for:
Fiber installation and routing
Splice quality and loss budgets
Testing accuracy and documentation
Monitor productivity metrics and drive continuous improvement in labor efficiency.
Ensure daily reports, production trackers, and progress updates are accurate and timely.
Hold teams accountable for commitments, schedule adherence, and workmanship.
Safety & Compliance
Champion a strong safety culture across all Division 27 activities.
Ensure compliance with:
Company safety policies
Customer site requirements
OSHA and applicable regulations
Support incident prevention, reporting, and corrective action processes.
Team Development & Scaling
Mentor and develop Construction Managers and field leadership.
Support onboarding, training, and performance development of W-2 technicians.
Assist in scaling operations to support multi-market growth and large-scale deployments.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in fiber construction, low-voltage, or data center environments
5+ years in a operations leadership role (Construction Manager, Operations Manager, or similar)
Strong hands-on understanding of:
High-count fiber installation (288ct–6912ct)
Fusion splicing and testing (OLTS / OTDR)
Data center infrastructure and structured cabling systems
Proven experience managing both W-2 labor and subcontractor crews
Strong scheduling, coordination, and execution skills
Ability to communicate effectively with PMO, field teams, and customers
Preferred
Experience supporting hyperscale or enterprise data center projects
Multi-market or campus-scale deployment experience
Familiarity with production tracking, short-interval planning, and look-ahead scheduling
OSHA 30 or equivalent safety training
