    POSITION: Part-Time Hospital/Homebound General Education Teacher (K�12)

    LOCATION:  Albany High Complex

    JOB SUMMARY:
    The Part-Time Hospital/Homebound Teacher provides individualized instructional services to general education students who are unable to attend school due to medical or psychological conditions. This role ensures continuity of learning by delivering standards-based instruction aligned with the student's enrolled courses and district curriculum.

    The teacher collaborates closely with the student's school, classroom teachers, and family to maintain academic progress and support a successful transition back to the traditional school setting. This position requires flexibility, strong instructional practices, and the ability to work independently across multiple environments.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Bachelor's degree in Education or related field, required;
    2. Valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) teaching certification (P�12 or applicable grade/content area), required;
    3. Experience teaching in a K�12 general education setting;
    4. Knowledge of Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) and instructional best practices;
    5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and Board may find appropriate.

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  

    1. Ability to deliver individualized, standards-based instruction across multiple content areas (elementary) or specific content areas (middle/high);
    2. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple student assignments and schedules;
    3. ffective communication and collaboration skills with school staff, families, and healthcare providers as appropriate;
    4. Ability to adapt instruction and pacing based on student needs and medical circumstances;
    5. Proficiency in virtual learning platforms and instructional technology;
    6. Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in sensitive situations;
    7. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Provide direct instructional services to eligible hospital/homebound students in accordance with district guidelines;
    2. Deliver instruction aligned to the Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) and the student's current coursework;
    3. Collaborate with classroom teachers to obtain assignments, instructional materials, and grading expectations;
    4. Maintain continuity of instruction to minimize learning loss during the student's absence;
    5. Monitor and document student progress and communicate updates to the school and family;
    6. Submit completed student work to the appropriate school personnel for grading and feedback;
    7. Maintain accurate records of instructional hours, services provided, and student progress;
    8. Support students in maintaining engagement and motivation during extended absences;
    9. Coordinate with school staff to facilitate a smooth transition back to the school environment;
    10. Follow all district policies, including confidentiality and student support protocols;
    11. Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling and delivery of instruction based on student needs;
    12. Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance for scheduled instructional sessions;
    13. Perform other duties as assigned.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Ability to travel between multiple locations, including homes, hospitals, and school sites;
    2. Ability to sit, stand, and engage in instruction for extended periods;
    3. Ability to lift instructional materials and equipment up to 20 pounds;
    4. Ability to navigate varied environments, including residential and medical settings.

    SALARY RANGE:  Competitive salary and excellent benefits package, in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide
