Job Description

About the Department

The Facilities Technician is responsible for the maintenance of the buildings of the College.

Position Duties

  1. Perform building maintenance as needed.
  2. Work in all College plant areas during emergencies.
  3. Maintain sewage and water distribution systems; repair leaks broken mains and pipes, valves, pumps, motors, filtering equipment, and related mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment parts of the systems.
  4. Perform preventative maintenance on air conditioning equipment: change filters,beltsand clean coils.
  5. Install andmaintainwater and gas lines,replacescommodes, lavatories, sinks, urinals, showers,dishwashersand drinking fountains.
  6. Install conduit and electrical wiring for plugs, switches, lightingfixturesand appliances.
  7. Perform preventative and emergency repairs on a wide range of Facilities Operations equipment.
  8. Monitor operations of equipment for efficiency and safety.
  9. Install floor tile and suspended ceilings; repairs broken window glass; paint interior and exterior of buildings;repair or replace locks; repair roofing; erect and repair chain link fences.
  10. Erect stands,platformsand stages for events.
  11. Provide assistanceingroundsmaintenance as needed.
  12. Serve on committees as assigned.
  13. Ability to lift and move at least 50 lbs.
  14. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Facilities Director and/or Assistant Facilities Director.

Other Specific Qualifications/Requirements of the Job:
  1. Ability to work non-standard hours as needed.
  2. Ability to schedule and conduct work independently.
  3. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.

Minimum Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. One year of experience in industrial, commercial, or institutional plant maintenance.
  3. Valid drivers’ license and insurable
  4. Ability to obtain OSHA10 (Construction) Certification Course within the first 6 months of employment

SALARY:
Salary Schedule E3 03 $45,220-$62,710 based upon the Alabama Community College System Salary Schedule to be determined by the applicant’s education and years of applicable experience. Applicant acknowledges that if selected for the position that applicant’s placement on the applicable salary schedule will be dependent upon the verified information provided. *This is an institutionally funded position*
