Social Work Internship



Behavioral Health Internship Stark County



National Youth Advocate Program is accepting internship applications for the Summer, 2026 and Fall, 2026 to our  Behavioral Health team.  In this role you will get hands on experience working closely with youth, family, foster parents, and community partners, providing advocacy and support to our IHBT clients. You will also have the opportunity to observe other therapeutic areas throughout the agency to gain insight to the communities and clients we serve. This position works closely with youth, family, foster parents, and community partners.



This opportunity is for students enrolled in a Bachelor of Social Work Program from an accredited College or University.

Your Internship Experience may include:




  • Coordinating and monitoring services for the youth and family in the community, including but not limited to, mental health, medical, educational, psychological, vocational, and social services.

  • Regularly reviewing and modifying youth-based plans to assure consistent progress and success on written plan goals.

  •  Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with assigned foster parents and families of origin.

  •  Assisting in family reunification and/or stabilization efforts with the youth’s primary family or other permanent living arrangements consistent with the youth’s case plan.

  • Providing safety assessment, crisis response, and behavioral stabilization services as required to assure safety and stability for youth served.

  • Actively participating in the weekly supervision process

  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.



 



Minimum Qualifications




  • Must be enrolled in either a Bachelor of Social Work or Master of Social Work Program from an accredited College or University


    • An internship or field placement is a requirement by the institution.

    • Upon the completion of the internship, the individual would receive credit toward their pursued degree.



  • Must be 21 years of age at the start of the internship

  • LSW or SWT licensure required for master-level interns



 



Driving and Vehicle Requirements 




  • Valid driver’s license

  • Reliable personal transportation

  • Good driving record

  • Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability
