Job Description

About the Department

Processes all HR forms related to new hires, promotions, reassignments, benefits, separations and disciplinary actions.  Calls applicants and schedules interviews. Coordinates employee training and monthly safety meetings. Units Time Administrator, enters time/leave information into Highway Maintenance Management System (HMMS) and the South Carolina Enterprise Information System (SCEIS).  Maintains leave records and personnel files for the unit. Enters employee injuries and accidents in RMIS.  Compiles and completes paperwork for drug testing. Serves as a liaison between agency management and the general public to provide information and address concerns. Interprets existing policies and regulations to departmental personnel. Assists with requests from members of the public, either in person or by phone. Assist in entering work requests into Highway Maintenance Management System (HMMS) and the Maintenance Work Request Online (MWRO) system. Assists with incoming phone calls and may retrieve voicemails left after normal business hours. Researches, processes, and prepares correspondence and reports expeditiously in a concise and professional manner. Files and maintains tracking systems of correspondence. Responds to letters of a general nature that requires thorough knowledge of Department policies as requested by executive personnel. Essential availability for emergency situations and inclement weather such as hurricanes, and snow and ice. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Duties

A high school diploma and six (6) months of work experience that is directly related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence.

Physical Requirement: The physical demands for the essential functions of this position include sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods and working on a computer. May be required to lift up to 30 lbs. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies.

A motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
