Required Skills & Qualifications:




  • Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, public health, dietetics, health education, or a related field.

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in customer service, nutrition, health education, counseling, or a related field.

  • WIC experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of maternal and child health, nutrition, and breastfeeding/chestfeeding support.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.

  • Ability to provide participant-centered education using motivational interviewing techniques.

  • Demonstrated cultural competence and ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred or willingness to develop proficiency. 



Description of Duties:



The Degreed WIC Nutrition Assistant (DWNA) must possess knowledge of maternal and child health, nutrition, and WIC Program regulations, policies, and procedures. The DWNA is responsible for certifying WIC applicants and participants, conducting nutrition and breastfeeding/chestfeeding risk assessments, and providing participant-centered education and counseling.



The position delivers both individual and group nutrition and breastfeeding/chestfeeding education sessions and provides support for common breastfeeding concerns. The DWNA ensures accurate documentation and data entry in WIC WISE and adheres to all program requirements.



In addition, the DWNA participates in outreach and community engagement activities, including health fairs and presentations, to promote WIC services and connect eligible families to care. The position supports overall site operations, maintains accurate records, assists with immunization assessments, and provides coverage at alternate WIC locations as needed.



The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, attention to detail, initiative, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, culturally responsive services to participants.
