Summary: The position of Architect will plan, design and/or facilitate the execution of new building designs; and plan, design and/or facilitate the execution of building expansions or renovations according to clients’ needs, desires and financial resources.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Identifies, through consultation, client requirements, approximate budget, timetable and possible needs for future expansion
- Determines client preferences regarding materials, styles, colors and other variables
- Attempts to identify through collaboration, client priorities in terms of needs vs. desires
- Assists client in defining their priorities and vision by preparing preliminary sketches of options
- Prepares and presents designs, specifications, estimated costs, and proposed construction schedule
- Creates detailed plans integrating engineering, electrical, and HVAC considerations; presents plans to clients for review and approval
- Modifies new or existing plans as required
- Collaborates with clients to select and award construction contracts
- Collaborates with general contractor and clients to facilitate the building process to meet client specifications
- Perform other duties as assigned

Work Environment:
This position routinely operates in a professional office environment; routinely uses standard office equipment. Occasionally monitors construction job sites to coordinate with project team members.
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods in a stationary position at a desk and working on a computer.
- Will occasionally move about the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment such as a copy machine/printer, etc.
- Frequently communicates with employees, clients, guests and others for various needs. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Occasionally moves, office equipment/items weighing up to 15 pounds.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with computer-aided design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD, BIM and Revit
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Excellent problem-solving, negotiation and consultation skills
- Ability to translate client ideas into visual and/or tangible references such as drawings or models
- Strong imagination and the ability to think and create in three dimensions
- Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
- Excellent drawing skills and familiarity with design software such as Adobe programs, Revit, Lumion and Nscapes
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture required
- Active State licensure required
- Five years of relevant experience required
