We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Tai Chi Instructor to join our team at the Community Athletic Center as a contractor. The ideal candidate will have a passion for promoting wellness and a deep understanding of Tai Chi principles, techniques, and philosophies. health, wellness, and community connection. Our programs are hosted on the campus of
Fennville Public Schools, offering a welcoming space where participants of all ages and
fitness levels can stay active and have fun.
Position Overview:
Fennville Community Recreation is seeking a knowledgeable and patient Tai Chi Instructor to lead
classes focused on balance, flexibility, relaxation, and mindful movement. The ideal candidate will
create a calm, supportive environment that encourages participants to improve their physical and
mental well-being at a comfortable pace.
Qualifications
• Experience leading fitness
classes, preferably with older
adult populations certification
from a recognized program
(required)
• Strong understanding of Tai Chi
principles, movement, and form
• Excellent communication and
interpersonal skills
• Ability to motivate and engage
participants of all fitness levels
• CPR/First Aid certification
(preferred or willingness to
obtain)
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead Tai Chi classes for participants of
varying ages and experience levels
• Teach foundational Tai Chi forms, techniques,
and principles
• Guide participants through slow, controlled
movements emphasizing balance, posture,
and breath
• Provide clear instruction, cues, and
modifications as needed
• Foster a calm, respectful, and
inclusive class environment
• Encourage mindfulness, relaxation, and body
awareness during sessions
• Communicate effectively with participants
and program staff
• Arrive prepared and on time for scheduled
classes
• Maintain awareness of space and equipment
usage within school facilities

Preferred Skills:
• Certification or formal training in Tai Chi instruction or related disciplines
• Experience teaching in community recreation or wellness settings
• Background in martial arts, mindfulness practices, or movement-based disciplines
• Experience working with beginner or older adult populations
