Job Description

Schneider Electric has an opportunity for a Sustainability Business Software Engineer Intern in our Energy and Sustainability Services group. The preferred location is Louisville, Kentucky.

 

As part of a team of talented architects and developers, the SB Software Engineer Intern is responsible for assisting with design and implementation of business-critical applications across the Sustainability business. They work with software architects, Engineers and stakeholders to understand requirements and constraints, and then develop plans and execution strategies to meet those needs.

 

Schneider Electric's Sustainability Architecture Group initiatives involve leveraging the latest technologies to build innovative and sustainable solutions. They use Azure services such as IoT, AI, and machine learning to develop solutions that enable customers to optimize their energy usage, reduce their carbon footprint, and improve operational efficiency.

 

What will you do?

 

Work on a talented team of experienced architects and developers building SaaS based energy and sustainability solutions for our business clients and customers.

  • AI-Driven Development: Utilize AI pairing tools to design and develop core business systems, moving beyond manual syntax to focus on logic, architecture, and system integration.
  • System Evolution: Develop and enhance core SaaS applications, providing seamless integration between internal platforms and external sustainability data sources.
  • Architectural Ideation: Support the Enterprise Architecture of our Energy and Sustainability Services through technology reviews, rapid prototyping, and AI-augmented ideation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with architects and product teams to build software solutions that directly address global sustainability challenges.
  • Clean Code Mastery: Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code using .NET Core and C#, utilizing AI to assist in unit testing and documentation.
  • Data Integration: Integrate sustainability metrics and complex datasets into our software ecosystem to provide actionable insights for customers.
  • Modern API Design: Build and maintain robust APIs and web services for high-scale data collection and analysis.
  • Keeping up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies relevant to sustainability.

What qualifications will make you successful for this role?

 

This job might be for you if you are:

  • Working towards a degree in Computer, Software, Engineering or related.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing; experience of building scalable, resilient applications using Azure a plus.
  • An "AI-first" mindset: familiarity with (or a strong desire to master) tools like Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or LLM-based workflows.
  • Experience of working in collaborative teams and working in an agile manner
