Job Summary

The Inventory Control Lead is responsible for overseeing daily inventory control activities to ensure accurate inventory levels, proper stock rotation, and compliance with company procedures. This role leads inventory-related processes, supports audits, resolves discrepancies, and serves as a subject matter expert for inventory systems and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

    Lead and coordinate all inventory control activities, including cycle counts, physical inventories, and reconciliation processes.

    Monitor inventory accuracy and investigate variances, shortages, and overstocks; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

    Maintain accurate inventory records within the warehouse management system (WMS) or ERP system.

    Ensure compliance with inventory policies, procedures, and internal controls.

    Train and support warehouse staff on inventory handling, scanning, labeling, and documentation standards.

    Collaborate with Purchasing, Operations, Production, and Finance to align inventory needs with business demands.

    Analyze inventory data and generate regular reports on accuracy, turns, aging, and discrepancies.

    Assist with process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, accuracy, and inventory visibility.

    Support audits (internal, external, or regulatory) by providing documentation and inventory verification.

    Enforce proper storage, handling, FIFO/FEFO practices, and inventory security standards.

    Act as the primary point of contact for inventory-related issues and escalations.

Qualifications & Requirements

    High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred.

    3–5 years of inventory control or warehouse experience, with at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory role.

    Strong understanding of inventory management principles, cycle counting, and variance analysis.

    Proficiency with inventory systems (WMS, ERP, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.

    Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and recommend process improvements.

    Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

    Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

    Ability to lift up to designated weight limits and work in a warehouse environment, as applicable.
