Job Description
Summary:
Administer in the day-to-day oversight of fiscal department hereby keeping program managers and directors abreast of trends in spending.  Provide support and guidance to Head Start Program staff.
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Assist the Administrator in the implementation of division goals.
  • Maintain an accounting system for recording expenditures by program account
  • Monitor monthly spending projections.
  • Bank statements reconciliation
  • Manage the preparation, analysis, and timely submission of accurate financial statements, including monthly, quarterly and annual report.
  • Assist in the preparation and implementation of audits
  • Attend meetings and trainings to advance knowledge and skills.
  • Keep abreast of changing developments in the area of operation.
  • Prepare bank deposits
  • Prepare requisitions for cash
  • Verify check requests and purchase orders.
  • Assist in the preparation of all agency tax filings
  • Assure that all voided checks are properly mutilated and retained on file
  • Prepare budget modifications and review new grant
  • Prepare chart of accounts
  • Maintain a system for all agency inventory
  • Comply with generally accepted accounting standards and practices
  • Assist in the overall operation of the fiscal office when needed
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, 
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience with auditing in a non-profit setting.  CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with accounting software and financial reporting
  • Ability to handle detailed work and other responsibilities simultaneously. 
  • Ability to write budgets and assist with the completion of grant applications.
  • Ability to manage large budgets
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail is a must.

Details:
  • Report to: Administrator. 
  • Salary Range: $71,000-$74,000.
  • Work Hours: Monday-Friday 9:00 am-5:00 pm.
  • Status/Classification: Full-time Exempt.
