    Reports To:     Assistant Superintendent of Student Services
     

    Supervises:   Special Education Services for K-8
                               Special Education and Related Services (in tandem with Principals)
                               Special Education Paraprofessionals (in tandem with Principals)

    Qualifications:

    • Professional Educator License with the Administrative Endorsement
    • 3-5 years' experience in a special education field
    • Ability to facilitate IEP meetings
       

    Goals:

    • Work closely with the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services to provide support and supervision in planning, implementation and evaluation of an effective Pupil Personnel Services and Special Education delivery system.
       

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities for Special Education Services:

    1. Support new and existing staff members in IEP development, IEP meeting facilitation, and ISBE compliance as it relates to BSD2 standards. Act as LEA representative in tandem with building administration and other designated staff.
    2. Monitor the fidelity of special education services and supports.
    3. Observe students, collect data, and provide collaborative feedback to special education staff.
    4. Provide feedback, modeling, and coaching for the fidelity of implementation of special education instructional methodologies.
    5. Work with the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services to provide professional guidance and supervise various sub-groups (Occupational Therapy, Speech, Psychologists, Teachers, and Paraprofessionals).
    6. Work closely with the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services and District Psychologists to monitor the system for case studies for students including the screening, referral, identification, diagnosis, multidisciplinary staffing,  and follow-up of students Kindergarten through 8th grade.
    7. Collaborate with student/building teams to problem solve for student needs.
    8. Assist the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services in recommending placement and monitoring children in special placements outside of district boundaries.
    9. Provide for the accurate preparation of all required reports pertaining to Pupil Personnel Services, Special Education, and other assigned areas.
    10. Participate in Tier III problem-solving meetings with school teams.
    11. Support school teams with the development and implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans.
    12. Assist school teams with student crisis management as needed.
    13. Facilitate Student Services teams meetings at assigned schools. Assist in responsible fiscal decisions related to the budget as it pertains to this area of responsibility and administers the adopted program budget.
    14. Assist in the coordination of services and programs with North DuPage Special Education Cooperative (NDSEC).
    15. Participate in the development of the district-wide staff development plan. Work with the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services to develop and monitor targeted professional development for special education staff.
    16. Evaluate certified and non-certified staff (in tandem with Principals).
    17. Other duties as assigned.

    4. Vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
