Position Title: Analytics Engineer I

Job Summary

As an Analytics Engineer I, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of data pipelines that support business analytics and data-driven decision-making. You will work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to ingest, standardize, and store data while applying software development best practices. This role requires strong foundational programming skills, an understanding of relational databases, and an eagerness to learn and grow in modern data engineering techniques.

Key Responsibilities

Data Pipeline Development & Automation

  • Assist in designing and maintaining reliable data pipelines to ingest, standardize, and store data for analytical and operational use.
  • Develop basic automated workflows to improve data movement and transformation efficiency.
  • Implement business logic into data workflows, ensuring accurate representation of key metrics.
  • Follow software development best practices, including version control, structured documentation, and basic testing strategies for data workflows.

Source System Integration & Data Standardization

  • Work with a variety of source systems, including databases, APIs, and structured data files, to support ingestion and transformation.
  • Assist in standardizing and harmonizing disparate data formats, ensuring consistency across downstream analytics.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot basic data pipeline failures, escalating complex issues as needed.
  • Support data governance efforts by following established data quality and security guidelines.

Collaboration & Growth

  • Partner with analysts and engineers to understand business needs and improve data workflows.
  • Document data processes and transformations to ensure consistency and maintainability.
  • Continuously learn new data engineering tools, frameworks, and best practices.

Skills and Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Programming Proficiency: Experience with a programming language commonly used for data processing. Experience with the Python data stack strong preferred. 
  • SQL & Relational Databases: Comfortable writing queries and working with relational databases.
  • Data Handling: Familiarity with structured and semi-structured data (CSV, JSON, APIs).
  • Version Control & Best Practices: Basic understanding of version control (e.g., Git) and software development methodologies.
  • Problem-Solving Mindset: Ability to debug and optimize data workflows with guidance.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a data-related role (internships or full-time). Experience with cloud platforms and analytics tools is a plus.
