Description

Job Focus: The Testing Specialist assists in providing testing to current and future students, and other community members. Project a professional and articulate image, while helping current and future students through the enrollment process included but not limited to; testing, basic skills tutoring, and educating students about financial aid opportunities. Develops a working relationship with students, staff, and student sponsoring agencies in the 
community. Assist in recruitment and retention activities. Provides professional level support to the Student Success Officers and Director of Student Success and Access. Participates and assists in a wide range of tasks. This position will also communicate to students the availability of financial aid.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
1. Knowledge of standardized test and measurements
2. Ability to instruct and teach others skills needed to pass entrance requirements including but not limited to, Math, and English
3. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both orally and in writing 
4. Ability to effectively and efficiently respond to the faculty, staff, and students
5. Ability to communicate to the public in a positive manner 
6. Ability to provide excellent customer service 
7. Knowledge of computer information systems 
8. Ability to assist students in completing and filling out documentation
9. Ability to prioritize assignments with acute attention to detail 
10. Ability to work with diverse stakeholders; including educators, employers and community 
11. Ability to understand and respond to the dynamics of a complex, multi-faceted environment 
12. Possess organizational skills to effectively facilitate the day-to-day operations 
13. Ability to use discretion and independent judgment 
14. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Must be able to adapt and work effectively under pressure 
15. Possess reading and writing skills for the development and dissemination of various correspondence and reports
16. Ability to communicate to the public in a positive manner
17. Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

 

Responsibilities and Tasks:
1. Assists Student Success Officers in providing testing to current students, future students, and community members
2. Provide Basic Skills assistance when needed prior to enrollment
3. Monitor computer lab activities
4. Administer and explain admission testing results
5. Assist Student Success Officers in tracking students to help them move through the enrollment process
6. Maintain and distribute accurate records and reports
7. Communicates effectively with students through a variety of mediums 
8. Greets visitors and clients; acknowledges and responds to all visitors in a timely and courteous manner; uses sound judgment and knowledge of organization/departmental policies, procedures, and operations to respond to routine questions; directs non-routine requests to appropriate personnel in a timely manner 
9. Maintain an accurate and efficient system for filing reference material
10. Coordinate and communicate with various individuals who are internal and external to the institution
11. Follows established policy and procedure and accurately enters demographic, schedule, and enrollment information into the Student Information System 
12. Documents and makes changes to records when necessary 
13. Assures compliance with FERPA laws; maintain confidentiality of information and follow policy regarding the release of information
14. Assists and actively participates with the accreditation process 
15. Attend all institutional activities, functions, events and meetings as appropriate
16. Assist or manage special projects as assigned
17. Performs other related duties as assigned

 

This is a non-benefited, part-time position. 

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
1. High School diploma or GED 
2. Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service
3. Strong communication skills 
4. Office administrative experience and proficient in computer applications 
5. Demonstrated ability to follow various processes and procedures 
6. Must successfully pass criminal background check 
7. Valid driver’s license

 

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-2pm
