Hutchinson Public Schools has multiple Summer/ESY Special Education Assistant Bus Rider positions available for the summer of 2026. 

Special Education Assistant Bus Riders will provide assistance and monitor individual students who are on an Individual Education Plan (IEP) while they are on the school bus making sure school rules are followed to ensure student safety.

The salary range for this position is $19.59 per hour - $22.09 per hour. Salary is dependent upon education and experience. Benefits include Sick Leave. This position will work 9 days from 07/07/2026 - 07/23/2026, hours per day will depend on each route. 

Responsibilities Include:

• Observe students, checking for appropriate and safe behaviors.
• Assist in conflict resolution as well as other needs including: tying shoes, zipping coats, etc.
• Assist the teacher with crisis problems and behavior management.  Observe, record, and chart behaviors.
• Work with other staff and students to create a positive, efficient and safe school environment.
• Maintain confidentiality standards by adhering to the district's data privacy policy.

Preferred Qualifications (one of the following): 

• Associates Degree
• 60 semester college credits
• Passing score on one of the state-approved tests (ParaEducator or ParaPro)
• Competency Grid
