Job Description

Job Summary

Receives inquiries for admission and coordinates the admission process of residents and patients to the facility.  Develops and maintains a constant referral base for potential admission in order to meet facility census requirements.  Conducts pre-determined marketing and education activities to clinical and professional sources, potential residents, community at large and staff.  Collects data and performs assessments to qualify new admissions.  Communicates and provides necessary documents to facility staff to facilitate the admission and billing process.

Qualifications

The incumbent will possess:

  • A minimum of two years Admissions experience in a long-term care setting, preferably a nursing facility.
  • Reliable knowledge of the health care insurance industry in Rhode Island.  Includes expertise with Medicare,  Managed Care, Medicaid and third party payor.
  • Experience with the Rhode Island Medicaid applications process and knowledgeable of eligibility requirements. 
  • The ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with referral sources, general public, residents, families and staff in addition to working cohesively on a team.
  • The ability to present self in a professional manner and promote positive image of the facility to the community at large.
  • Adequate keyboarding skills and computer literacy to include:  Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Email and internet.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills,
  • A desire to work with and interact with the infirmed and elderly
  • The ability to work independently and be self-driven.
  • The ability to act responsibly in a crisis and exercise control.
