Job Description

LEGACY EARLY COLLEGE OVERVIEW

Legacy Early College is a K4-12 public charter school that originated through the vision of businessman

William Brown in 2009 with an unwavering focus on “To and Through College” at every grade level. Legacy’s model combines academics, nutrition, physical fitness, and mental health. In addition to our college-driven academic standards, meals are made on site, scholars participate in PE every day, and Social-Emotional Literacy is integrated into the culture and curriculum.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Interventionist will work directly, and potentially one-on-one, with scholars who have struggled to display a mastery of the reading as practiced within their classroom on a daily basis. Above all else, the Interventionist will find joy and purpose in teaching children the habits necessary to be successful in school, and they will relish the opportunity to imbue our students with a love for learning. They must also be committed to Legacy’s mission, while possessing the beliefs, character traits, and skills necessary to ensure student growth and achievement.

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Duties

  • Consult with classroom teachers on matters relating to instruction using our progress-monitoring instrument as a base.
  • Design interventions and write lesson plans detailing methods and materials.
  • Assist in the evaluation of ongoing programs and make recommendations for change.
  • Assist teachers and other administrators and/or supervisors in implementing the program.
  • Help teachers diagnose strengths and weaknesses and match these skills with appropriate techniques and materials.
  • Keep the parents informed as to the purposes and progress of the program.
  • Work with support staff and administrators to facilitate the coordination of the program with the total curriculum.
  • Consult with curriculum committees studying such topics as textbook selection, vocabulary development, concept development, supplementary materials and the development of study skills.
  • Work with the classroom teacher and school personnel to coordinate instruction designed to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Work with the classroom teacher to monitor student progress.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

 

Skills & Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree, required
  • South Carolina teaching certificate, preferred
  • Spanish speaking ability, preferred
  • Strong organization and project management skills
  • Superb written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through
  • K-12 teaching experience highly, preferred

 

Work Schedule

Teachers will operate on the Legacy Early College academic calendar, on the 195-day (10-month school year) schedule. A typical week during normal school hours is Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Position will have periods of extended work week hours, which is required to support both the ongoing development of the region and the delivery of high-quality education for all students.
