Job Description

Main Purpose of the role

Within Group R&D Packaging Team, the role is accountable at global level for setting up processes and policies to ensure all packaging food contact materials comply with applicable regulations and standards, both nationally and internationally.

Main Activities and Responsibilities

  • Drive the implementation of the FCMs compliance framework (including strategy, policy, procedures, programs, and systems) for Packaging PVM products;
  • Monitoring and interpreting legislative developments and technical requirements in the key markets, indirectly through the local packaging or directly (no Regulatory support in this area);
  • Assessing impact on packaging materials and derive necessary action plans collaborating with local packaging departments, procurement and quality team as well as suppliers and external laboratories;
  • Identify testing needs and establish appropriate protocols. Assess (directly or supporting local teams) outcomes from testing laboratories and drive conclusions;
  • Perform risk assessments as necessary;
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the local packaging organizations and support educational initiatives;
  • Support implementation/maintenance of a system to keep detailed records of necessary information about FCMs, including Declarations of Compliance (DoCs) and other relevant documentation;
  • Build and maintain a network of external service providers (e.g., testing laboratories, legislation monitoring, trainings..);
  • Collaborate within the Group R&D Packaging Sustainability & Compliance team to streamline the overall Packaging Compliance process.

Our Perfect Candidate

  • Degree in a scientific discipline (food science, material science, chemistry or chemistry and pharmaceutical technology/Pharmacy or biology/biotechnology, toxicology or others);
  • 8 years of proven success in a similar position within an international setting, including a minimum of 3 years in the Food Industry;
  • In-depth understanding of food contact regulations, standards, and testing methodologies, and their practical application;
  • Strong analytical abilities with a keen attention to detail;
  • Excellent documentation and record-keeping skills;
  • Excellent time-management, organizational and project management skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to persuade and motivate others, fostering collaboration and securing buy-in for initiatives;
  • Ability to effectively identify and communicate risks and opportunities related to packaging compliance to non-technical stakeholders;
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional, and culturally diverse team environment;
  • Capacity to prioritize and complete projects and tasks, exercising independent judgment, initiative, and discretion;
  • Experience in managing highly confidential matters.
