GENERAL STATEMENT
The Marketing Assistant is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of an integrated marketing program for the University Student Union. Efforts will focus on services and programs of the USU and identification of the needs of students, faculty and staff of CSULB. The assistant will be responsible for assisting the Associate Director, Communications in planning, execution and monitoring of marketing and advertising campaigns, including preparation of print material.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Updates screens located in the University Student Union and Student Recreation & Wellness Center. Monitors their working status and reports issues to the Associate Director, Communications.
- Posts ASI promotional advertisements within the University Student Union and throughout the CSULB campus. Utilizes ASI Carts whenever necessary to aid in distribution of promotional material.
- Removes all unauthorized marketing materials from the University Student Union.
- Responsible for assisting the Associate Director, Communications with oversight of the ASI Street Team. They will coordinate and monitor the activities of the ASI Street Team. Must be able to recruit, monitor and encourage student volunteers. They will successfully facilitate weekly Street Team meetings.
- Organizes presentations, and communication strategies to facilitate informational events and/or presentations.
- Assists the Associate Director, Communications with implementation of marketing research including surveys and polls.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
A minimum of one semester job related experience or equivalent multi-task position required. Marketing or Communications majors preferred. Concurrent enrollment in six or more units at CSULB.
Knowledge and Abilities
Working knowledge of modern office methods and practices. General knowledge of data processing and personal computer operations. Knowledge of both MAC and PC systems is desired. Exceptional customer service and communication skills is a must. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to employees of the organization.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
California Driver's License necessary as incumbent will drive university vehicles as needed including ASI carts, van and/or truck.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Schedule
Availability to work in-person during the academic year & non-academic breaks.
Must be able to work a minimum of 15 hours per week with the flexibility to cover up to 20 hours per week as needed.
Must be available to work evenings and some weekends as needed during the academic year. Hours during summer and winter breaks are to be determined by supervisor.
